SENIOR RF APPLICATIONS ENGINEER / DIRECTOR OF APPLICATIONS (MULTIPLE OPENINGS)
Definition, design and implementation of up to 400G characterization hardware.
Develop and execute Design Verification Testing (DVT) plans for high-speed CDRs, drivers and TIAs for optical transceivers.
Definition, design and implementation of customer evaluation boards and SFP/QSFP reference designs in-house and/or with 3rd party vendors.
Hands-on experience with board prototyping, assembly, debugging, bring-up, functional verification and modification of mechanical housings.
Perform hands-on experimental setup including opto-mechanics, precision coupling and a wide variety of performance measurements include BER & Stressed Sensitivity tests under a variety of system conditions.
Experienced on the bench in the ps time (optical and electrical) domain.
Familiarity with working with eye diagrams, spectrum analyzers, optical power meters, Network analyzers to 65 GHz & above, etc.
Demonstrated expertise and ability with RF and microwave techniques (SMD-PCB and Chip & wire – ceramic substrates) when applied to optical systems.
Use CAD tools such as RF simulators (ADS), time domain solvers, Spice, and ACAD.
Provide customer design-in support through schematic reviews, Q&As, system bring-up, demos and customer visits.
Perform root cause analysis on customer RMAs including on-site customer support for issue analysis and resolution.
Generate technical materials such as DVT reports, schematics, gerber files, user guides, application notes and FAQ.
Fully document test procedures and evaluation boards using ACAD & Microsoft Office as required
Provide technical training and tradeshow support to Sales/Marketing.
Masters or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer engineering, Electronics or related technical degree
Minimum 5+ years development experience RF / Microwave or highly technical support experience in the fields of optical engineering design communication – high speed interconnects (optical devices, drivers, cables and transceivers)
10GHz and above
Knowledge of high speed test equipment for eye diagrams (BER , sensitivity etc.)
Knowledge of optical devices, lasers and photo diodes
Knowledge of optical standards.
Familiarity with fiber types and alignment techniques.
